Believer Meats has announced three new executive leadership appointments: Heather Hudson as chief product and growth officer; Frida Grynspan as chief science officer; and Marc Shelley as chief legal officer, effective immediately.

The start-up says that the appointments will bring extensive and complementary experience to the Believer Meats executive leadership team as it continues to grow.

Chief product and growth officer Hudson brings over two decades of experience driving innovation in companies and start-ups within the food, foodtech, and agtech industries, with experience at Kraft Heinz. Hudson’s experience and educational background in nutrition , food science and business position her to lead Believer Meats’ growth agenda, particularly in steering the development of products that “meet and exceed” customers’ expectations.

Grynspan, who is assuming the role of chief science officer, has over two decades of experience in biotech and life sciences across academia, research and the private sector. Most recently, Grynspan served as the head of Lonza’s Collaborative Innovation Center in Haifa, Israel, overseeing all operations and the development of new innovative technologies related to mammalian protein cell expression.

Chief legal officer Shelley has joined Believer Meats after serving at Anheuser-Busch InBev, where he spent over five years as the global director of litigation and risk management leading litigation, intellectual property, employment law and crisis management. Shelley’s background and understanding of the legal landscape will be instrumental in his new role, in which he will lead legal, regulatory, IP and corporate affairs.

Believer Meats says it is well-positioned to launch and scale production in the coming year, as it is currently building the “largest” cell-based meat production facility in the world. Located in Wilson, North Carolina, US, the site is expected to be operational in 2024.
