Cult Food Science is celebrating the recent achievements of its venture arm company, Unicorn Biotechnologies, as the biotech firm makes strides in the cultivated meat and cellular agriculture space.

Key highlights from Unicorn Biotechnologies' latest developments include:

  • Launch of three new cell line products through its Dragon Bio platform.

  • Secured a commercial partnership with QKine, a leading supplier of growth factors and cell culture reagents.

  • Completed the development of a non-GMO, immortalised, suspension-adapted porcine adipogenic (pig fat producing) cell line.

  • Executed benchmarking tests on its automated 'Emmet' cell culturing platform, confirming significant reductions in labour and manufacturing costs compared to industry standard methods.

  • Filed three new non-provisional patents with the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Expanded operations with the renovation of a new world-class cell biology and engineering lab facility in Sheffield, UK.

Mitchell Scott, CEO of Cult Food Science, said: "These accomplishments by Unicorn Biotechnologies highlight the strength of our investment strategy and the potential for substantial returns for our shareholders".

He continued: "By aligning with such forward-thinking partners, we continue to solidify our position in the cellular agriculture industry".

The development of Unicorn's non-GMO porcine cell line represents a notable advancement in the cultivated meat space, as companies in this sector seek to create animal-based products without the use of genetically modified organisms.

Additionally, the firm's partnership with QKine and the successful testing of its Emmet platform demonstrate Unicorn's commitment to innovation and commercialisation.

"Unicorn Biotechnologies' progress is a testament to their innovative approach and dedication," added Scott. "Their advancements not only enhance their market position but also provide Cult with increased value and growth opportunities."
