Ulma Packaging has launched a new range of high-performance TFX thermoformers designed to address challenges in the food industry, focusing on production efficiency, sustainability and digitalisation.

The TFX thermoformers are engineered for high performance and operational availability, ensuring the production of high-quality packaging using sustainable materials. Key features include synchronised movement technology, which boosts productivity by up to 10%, and an advanced vacuum system design that reduces cycle time by 20%, making production more agile and efficient.

According to the company, the range offers 'superior packaging quality' with innovations like automatic film alignment, precise zone heating and consistent atmosphere control in the sealing area. Additionally, in-line quality control solutions verify labels and seals to maintain food safety standards.

The TFX range reduces format changeover times significantly. Features such as touchscreen-controlled tray height adjustments, automatic film and label roll changeovers, and quick-release systems for cutting tools reduce downtime. An intelligent RFID system further minimises errors by automatically identifying molds and cutting tools, optimising set-up times and safety.

The thermoformers feature two control panels for clear, intuitive access to all machine functions, enhancing operator efficiency and reducing movement on the production floor.

Ulma highlighted that sustainability is integral to the TFX range, with innovations like Better Form X technology, which allows the use of thinner base films without compromising rigidity, and Better Seal X technology, which enables efficient sealing of recyclable materials. These features help manufacturers meet environmental goals while maintaining performance.

The TFX also includes smart production capabilities, such as centralised recipe management and built-in monitoring tools to track film, electricity, air and gas usage by shift or batch. At the end of each production run, the system generates a detailed PDF report to provide manufacturers with insights into performance.
